I first heard these works in performances by Grigory Sokolov and Víkingur Ólafsson, and was struck by their clarity of color and character… this arrangement grew out of wanting to bring that sound world into the saxophone ensemble. These pieces specifically highlight the colors and dance energy of some of Rameau’s best writing.
